Supporting Dany White’s Journey to Rebuild After the Lahaina Fire on Maui

Aloha friends, supporters and all of my Maui Memories Ohana!

I come to you today with a heartfelt request; one that has not been easy for me to make. I am the owner of Maui Memories, a beloved store located in the Pioneer Inn facing the Banyan tree since January 2015. The store was recently devastated by the Lahaina fires on August 8. I am heartbroken as this store was truly my dream store and a second home for me and my employees. Our employees, our repeat customers and our Pioneer Inn neighbors became ohana.

In the face of adversity, I find strength, hope and the unbreakable spirit of Aloha. I have found an opportunity in the vibrant town of Paia to purchase a new store to once again start over. This fresh beginning comes with a financial challenge however, so I am reaching out to our ohana both near and far for support. The purchase price is $85,000 and I hope to raise as much as possible towards that goal. I was hoping that I would not need to ask for help, but I was denied by both FEMA and SBA. We also did not receive any grants and the store was way under insured unfortunately. We were blessed with two good years after the Covid lockdown, but the SBA loan that was taken out during that time is still being paid off. This new location will ensure that Maui Memories can continue to thrive and be a part of the community that we love so much. So, encouraged by friends and customers alike, I am reaching out for your help.
