Malibu Fire -A Phoenix Baby Buddha is Born

This is a miraculous story of survival as we rise from the ashes and thrive into rebirth,

Thanks to YOU - Our friends, family and community.

It began at 5am on Friday, November 9th with this alarming phone call.

"Evacuate now! The Woolsey fire just  jumped the 101 freeway. .  You're in danger and must evacuate immediately".

To add to the intensity, Elan was 35 weeks pregnant, we had a new puppy and Josh was beyond exhausted from what   was already an extremely delicate situation of a "high risk" pregnancy due to diabetes.

We had no choice but to jumped in the car with no time to think or plan, so we grabbed our birth-bag,  six month old       shar pei, Lola, and raced down the canyon to the Pacific Coast Highway.
The sky was ablaze with massive orange flames and a thick black-grey smoke that filled the entire skyline.Stunned and sleep deprived we drove into the city with uncertainty and fear.

Overwhelmed with stress and limited sense of options, we dropped off Lola at shelter & headed straight to St. Francis Hospital in Lynwood to get some medical help. (p.s. Lola now has a great home & family!)

Elan was admitted into the labor & delivery triage where she was then treated for high blood pressure (pre-eclampsia), bloody cough, fever, & difficulty breathing.  Stabilized with medication and hydration ivs, we settled into to hospital life.
While certain aspects seemed to be stabilizing over those days, her blood pressure continued to elevate & the challenge of breathing grew progressively difficult.

At 4am on the 12th Elan cried out, "I can't breath!" as she turned shades of blue and doctors, nurses & emergency medics assembled with a crash cart.

Elan:
Within seconds I was on a bed being transferred to Intensive Care Unit, barely able to focus on voice of my beloved encouraging me to hang on.  My last memory was feeling the closure of my lungs and the overwhelming sensation that I     may die and the questions of what would happen to my baby.
The next thing I remember was waking up being told that I had delivered a baby boy by emergency C section.

Josh:
Fear panic loss and disbelief ran through my mind body and soul as I watched my life partner and unborn child seemingly slipping away. I held her hand as she  was sedated with anasthesia and then excused myself to go throw up in the hallway from the trauma I had just witnessed.

Hours later I was told that Elan was stabilized and that I could go see her in the ICU again.  She was hooked up to multiple machines, iv drips & other life preserving yet ominous looking devices.

At 10:00 am the following morning after and echo cardiogram and ct scan of lungs I was informed that they had two hours to perform and emergency c section and that she was going into heart failure,  pre eclampsia with risk of stroke & that the baby's life would be threatened if he remained inside any longer.

I reached out to friends and family for counsel and was guided to sign the surgical consent forms allowing the emergency procedure to take place, unknowing of outcome for her or Charlee.

 November 13th - 12p,m.
A worldwide prayer vigil was organized by a dear sister of ours, who lead us collectively as family in community, and we went into a deep petition to the Universe and Creator to preserve and protect the lives of Elan and and our unborn        baby.

12:49pm, 11-13-18
Our beloved son Charlee Lee  was born by emergency c-section at St. Francis Hospital.  An hour later we were informed that mom had also survived the ordeal and was heading back to ICU for recovery.

The Universe heard the strength of our command and spared these beautiful souls to continue to grace us with their presence here on earth.
Elan remained in ICU for 3 more days until being reunited with baby for the first time!

We are beyond blessed to be together in a temporary home in venice provided by friends. Although our home and  all worldly possessions were taken by the fire we are filled with gratitude to be safe and healthy.

We invite you all to be a part of our incredible healing story, lives and share in the miracle of this triumph of Love and Faith over fear!

We are grateful for your support in all forms and look forward to rebuilding our holistic healing practice & sanctuary so that we may continue to embrace and support others through this journey of life.

LOVE + PEACE  ~ We are Grateful to be together!

Thank You all for all your love, time, energy and support.

In reverent appreciation,

ELAN, JOSHUA &  (miracle baby) CHARLEE
