Welcome to our Gofund me account! Before we get started I thought it’ll be ideal for me to give you all a back story on who Kamilah is and how we got to where we are now.
September of 2017 Kamilah became what her dream job was!! As you ponder on what that could be I’ll give you a couple hints. Traveling the world, catching flights, living through a compassionate life set fourth for herself that no one could get in the way of, not even a first class seat on Amtrak. If you guessed flight attendant, you’re right!
Following in her mother footsteps she attended flight school and received her wings from the exact same airline as her mother. A life highlight and day to always remember of course.
One of her biggest goals in life is to travel the world and touch grounds on every continent. While working, serving her community and saving any extra funds to see this through she was doing just that. Life became what she wanted and nothing could get in the way of that, so we thought.
August 5th, 2022 is Kamilah’s birthday and as she promptly plans her big 30th birthday she also was prompted by her body to receive medical attention. Not thinking anything of it she assumed it was mild spinal pains and hopefully something small. As the pain grew worse she decided to go to the emergency room and have it checked out. After a couple doctor visits we were able to find out she was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma cancer. Quite the birthday gift as Kamilah sat in shock and sadness.
Hodgkin lymphoma cancer is a cancer that attacks your immune system called the lymphatic system. The white blood cells (lymphocytes cells) grow out of control causing swollen lymph nodes and grows throughout the body. As this is a very unexpected diagnosis Kamilah along side her parents Keati and John jumped into full recovery mode doing exactly what her doctor instructed her to do.
As everything happens fast Kamilah stayed true to herself by staying strong. Throughout chemo, doctor office after doctor office, losing her hair and things we think are small such as a shot from the doctor she is aimlessly powering through it. This is a new flight that Kamilah has embarked on with a destination to winning!
With the help from yourself and others we will be able to help cover medical bills that is not insured, insurance premium and also her household bills such as rent and utilities. This is a small gesture that will help in a BIG way. Just taking the time reading Kamilah’s story and her flight to winning is much appreciated and from the bottom of our hearts we truly do thank you. With holiday season approaching I along with others just want Kamilah to be able to try and enjoy it while having the feeling of normalcy without the extra stress of funding her extra medical needs. If you cannot do a donation simple words of encouragement is known as currency to us as well.
