From Gaza to Perth

This is a fundraiser for the Qwaider families. I am the son and the brother. Our families in Gaza are currently enduring a genocide, one that we never thought we’d witness or experience. It has claimed the lives of loved ones, and continues to threaten our families’ lives and livelihood.

Amidst our desperate attempts to secure safety for our families, we have received approval for visa applications under the Tourist visa scheme, allowing us to bring immediate family members from Gaza to Perth. The sponsored Tourist visa is currently the only avenue for repatriation from Gaza to Australia that is available to us.

Unfortunately, at this time, there is no humanitarian crisis fund available to cover the financial cost of their applications, transport, or stay in Perth. So the responsibility of covering all the costs to bring our families to safety here in Perth has fallen completely on us as their sponsors.

Therefore, we have created this fundraising campaign to appeal to our friends, family and community to help us bring our families here.

We are applying for 30 members of our immediate family – 7 family units – to sponsor their stay in Perth, but the financial costs are enormous!! and amidst the absence of a humanitarian response to the crisis, we have no option but to seek support from our community.

The estimated costs we are fundraising for – per person – include:

Total estimated costs leading up to their arrival in Perth is $2,192 per person, and $65,760 for all 30 family members.

Additionally, as they are not permitted to work under the Tourist visa, we estimate the costs of each family’s stay in Perth for six months - per family - include:

This adds a minimum of $26,900 per family for their six month stay - a staggering additional total cost of $188,300.

While we attempt to raise these funds in order to provide some hope and immediate relief for our families, we continue to advocate for an immediate and lasting ceasefire and a humanitarian crisis scheme to support all Palestinians in Gaza.

Any surplus funds will be donated to UNRWA, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.
