From Mariupol, Ukraine to United States.

This fundraiser is created on behalf of Diana, an Environmental Technology student from the city of Mariupol in Ukraine. When the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in February, Diana and her family got caught in the middle of it. Being close to the border, her city quickly became the primary target of Putin's savagery, as well as the main symbol of Ukrainian resistance.

During the siege of Mariupol, Diana was hiding in the basement of her apartment building. Without heat, electricity or any food supplies, in freezing temperatures, under constant sheeling and bombardments, the 20y.o. girl was able to survive for more than 40 days. Eventually, risking her life, she was able to escape the warzone, sustaining an injury in the process.

Only less than a year ago, Diana was one of the most promising students on her faculty. Earning the highest grades and receiving the most prestigious scholarship possible, she was a secretary of the student council, participating in and organizing dozens of competitions and conferences.

Unfortunately, nobody is safe from being a refugee. Right now, Diana's situation has changed. She is safe, living in a temporary housing. But the home she grew up in, her university, her city and her life are in ruins.

War caught Diana in her final year of the university. Diana is very passionate about engineering and environmental protection, she wants to become an environmental engineer. She came to the US under Uniting for Ukraine program and, with little help, has a great chance to succeed and build her new life here.

We hope to raise funds for Diana to cover her basic needs for the near future until she is settled, including initial housing support, transportation, food and other expenses associated with resettlement. Because of the unavoidable psychological trauma Diana sustained during her time under occupation and subsequent months of uncertainty, it's important to create a safe and secure environment for her to heal and, eventually, thrive in this new country she hopes to be able to call home one day.

We are reaching out to everyone who can help in any way possible. Any contribution is appreciated; thank you!
