From Our Hearts for Eddie

Dr. Eddie Holden made the journey home to heaven Monday morning – January 27th.  Eddie suffered for many years mentally sharp but imprisoned in a body that steadily declined.  Most of us would have been bitter and angry to be in his shoes.  He never lost the peace in his heart, faith in his God or his belief that there was a purpose for the difficult journey he was on for so many years.  He died not understanding why he had to suffer so badly but he knew that there was purpose in his suffering and that someday he would understand.   For years , he was mentally ready to start the next chapter in his life on the other side but held onto this life for as long as he could to help Carrie raise their two awesome children Kobe (age 16 ) and Olivia (age 14 ).  They are both phenomenal kids and Eddie was very proud of them.  He lived long enough to give them a strong foundation for their move into adulthood and prepared them for a life without him.  Eddie loved his family and his love for them kept him going as long as he did.  Eddie also had a passion for God and living a life that would make his Father in Heaven proud.  He was a great teacher of scripture and its application to our lives today.  He loved music and had a head so full of music trivia that we always wondered how he had room in his head for all the other knowledge that he had.  He loved football and was a huge “Raider” fan.  He also loved the Lakers and even named his son after Kobe Bryant.  He had a huge heart and as an Interventional Cardiologist, he saved many hearts and lives.  Before he became ill, he worked endless hours sharing his big heart and passion for helping others when caring for his patients.  Eddies wife Carrie, has had multiple emails, texts and messages from people asking how to help.  In lieu of flowers, she is asking for donations to cover funeral expenses and medical debt accrued over time with his illness.  Dr. Holden spent his life saving hearts so this is an opportunity for us to give from our hearts to help Carrie and the kids.  If you are not able to donate, please leave messages and comments for Carrie and the kids to read.  Also make sure you follow this page for updates regarding a “Celebration of Life” that will be held in his honor – be sure and wear your “Raider” gear.
