From Syria to Newfoundland

Syamed and Jevine are Syrian Refugees who live in Iraq. They’ve been dreaming of coming to Canada for many years, to live in a peaceful country where their family can have a good future.

The Association for New Canadians advised them the first step would be to get a sponsor - so their search began. When Jevine saw pictures of our Syrian friends on our Facebook page, she felt we would understand their situation and sent us a note. After lots of emails, a long Facetime chat and connecting with the Association for New Canadians in St. John’s, we’re excited to sponsor Syamed, Jevine and their two children Arshag (3) and Ella (2).  The funds are to cover their living expenses for the first year, and will be disbursed through the Association for New Canadians.
