From the slums of Bengladesh : Every kids a changemaker!

"Picture what you would like to change? ": Empowering Children in the slum school of Dhaka Through Photography!

As you may know me, I am on a mission to turn everyone into a change-maker because I believe in the power of people in doing good for their community. I created MENA-can for this purpose to support change-maker in the MENA region and beyond.

This belief led me to the heart of Bangladesh, in Dhaka, where I embarked on a fellowship with the Muhammad Yunus Foundation to learn more about their social enterprise experience. What a journey it has been! The foundation operates more than 40 social enterprises dedicated to doing business for good. The best of business to serve humanity. Among these incredible initiatives, I had the chance to visit a project focused on bringing education to slums—a project that completely captured my heart.

Inspired by the transformative work being done, I am going to conduct a small photo project for the kids in a slum, and I am asking for your kind and generous support. We can't change the world alone and we need the support to everyone.

Under the theme "Every Kid's a Changemaker," children in a Dhaka's slum will express their aspirations for change through photography. They will be tasked with "picturing what you would like to change in your community" by taking up to five photos of things they wish to improve or transform in their surroundings.

Following the photo activity, we will engage in discussions about the changes they envision and explore how they might achieve these changes. This solution-focused approach, through photos they have taken themselves, will foster their design thinking skills, encouraging them to seek constructive solutions and discussions to the challenges they face.

The most compelling photos will be printed and exhibited in the classroom, celebrating the children's creativity and vision.

This project is not just about photography; it’s about empowering kids to see themselves as changemakers and inspiring them to take action in their communities.

I am asking for your support to buy a mobile phone and a tablet device for the school so photos story telling can become part of their regular activities.
