Frontline COVID Ultrasounds
Donation protected
I am an Emergency Medicine Resident in Brooklyn, NY.
I will keep this brief.
Our ED is considered to be on the frontlines of the current pandemic. Emergency Departments in big cities work at a baseline of stress with a large volume of patients. The current climate has taken what I like to call “controlled chaos” into a new and unprecedented realm.
I recently had a moment where two patients were coding (in cardiac arrest and requiring the maximal care in order to bring them back from death) at the same time. We had to decide who would get the first ventilator. It was not an easy decision, but it was a quick one.
This is one example of many. Others are facing similar and likely even more difficult challenges.
I am creating this GoFundMe in order to obtain funding for portable hand held ultrasounds for my ED. Without being boring: recent literature is showing that now, more than ever, point of care ultrasound can help us make critical decisions rapidly and thus save lives.
Help me share this message and help these people in need. The decisions that providers make are moments of their day, but can mean a lifetime of memories for family and friends.
All proceeds will go to ultrasound machines for front line providers and anything extra will go to personal protective equipment to keep providers healthy.
