Santa Fe Frontline Food Project -- Medical

Donation protected
With your support, the Santa Fe Frontline Food Project will tackle three important goals:

●          feed the essential workers who are keeping our community running
●          support the locally-owned restaurants that have been hurt by the economic shutdown
●          and give the whole community a way to contribute and keep Santa Fe vibrant and strong.

While many stay at home and practice social distancing, workers like healthcare providers, first responders, and others essential to public health are keeping our city running. As an expression of our gratitude for the tremendous sacrifices they’re making, we’ll be partnering with locally-owned restaurants to prepare them warm, nutritious meals for delivery.

This plan also helps sustain local restaurants, which are facing a catastrophic decline in business and, in some cases, the very real possibility of closing forever. Restaurants run on the thinnest of margins even in normal times. With the mandatory closure of all non-essential businesses, many restaurants are now squeaking by on take-out orders. Staff have been laid off or furloughed. We face the prospect of losing our beloved local food culture.

But with your support, we can keep essential workers fed and help local businesses survive this crisis. We started a pilot program in partnership with Tesuque Village Market, providing breakfast burritos, pastries, and coffee to frontline healthcare workers in the Santa Fe area. We are currently making deliveries to Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center, Presbyterian Healthcare Services (both in Santa Fe and Española), as well as La Familia Medical Center. Our goal is to donate breakfast to essential workers that are vital to the health of our community every week during this crisis. For around $4000 a week, we can provide breakfast burritos, freshly baked pastries, and cups of Ohori’s coffee to these essential workers.

With enough community support, we will expand to provide more meals to more people, building partnerships with other locally-owned restaurants and delivering meals to other essential workers -- and potentially those facing food insecurity because of lay-offs.

Every donation brings us closer to that goal. Our frontline workers need your support. Our local restaurants need your support. Even if you’re staying home, you can help our community stay strong.
