My name is Stephanie Ewens and I'm a portrait photographer in Rhode Island. This is my family on the front steps of our home.
As a way to document this time, I have decided to join in on #thefrontstepsproject, taking taking five-minute “Front Steps Portraits” of families in my community for the next few weeks. Each day, I’ll take a couple hours getting portraits of families in Providence and surrounding areas.
The purpose of this project is to bring us together virtually when we might feel isolated, aiming to highlight the faces of our community that we are missing right now. Participating in this project is also an opportunity to help those in need right now.
I will text you when I’m on my way. We’ll meet outside, you on your front porch or steps, and me on your driveway or end of your street, at least 10 feet away. I ask you how you’re doing, take a few notes down, photograph you for about 5 minutes, and then leave. I’ll make sure to keep a safe distance, not touching or physically interacting with anyone.
After your quick session, I will email you the digital file of your portrait. In exchange, I ask you to make a good faith donation either to www.getusppe.org or through this GoFundMe Campaign so we can track the amount of donations coming through.
#GetUsPPE is a movement by people in medicine on the front lines of the COVID pandemic. They are in desperate need for personal protective equipment (PPE) in order to take care of healthcare workers across the country.
I will be posting these images on Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #thefrontstepsproject. Please share these posts. Let’s spread the word!
This is not a typical get-dressed-up-and-pose-for-the-photographer session. Want to stand outside in your pajamas and slippers? Great! Or get a bit dressed up because you really haven’t in a week?
