Support Mike Roche's Battle with Parkinson's

Dear friends and family,
We want to express our gratitude to everyone who has shown care and support for Mike over the past few years. The messages, phone calls, and check-ins on his well-being have been very heartfelt. Although I never had any answers to give, it means so much that he has been thought of and missed. As many of you know, Mike has been unable to play with his bandmates in TSOL for a few years and hasn’t been able to work as a tattooist. Mike started experiencing symptoms around 2017, which worsened after contracting Covid-19 in February 2020, resulting in a high fever for two weeks. Despite his best efforts, including practicing music, performing live, and working as a tattoo artist, his condition continued to deteriorate with symptoms such as mental fogginess, extreme weight loss, tremors, and dexterity problems. It was becoming difficult for Mike to show up and make it through a single show, and it became apparent he wasn’t feeling himself. I encouraged him to focus and told him, “You’ve got this,” not understanding the entirety of his hesitation and insecurities he was experiencing. When we met, he was bigger than life in more than one way. We didn’t understand this change.
Today, it’s hard to think he’s struggled with the unknown for years, and how confused and lost he felt on stage, but he still did his best to show up and perform. Despite seeking medical help and undergoing numerous tests, no diagnosis was made by multiple physicians. Several possibilities, including MS, long-term effects of Covid-19, and dementia, were considered, but no definitive diagnosis was provided.
Now, we have finally received a bittersweet confirmation. Mike has been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. He has started treatment, and we will explore the option of a clinical trial when one comes up as suggested by the neurologist. While the road ahead may be long and challenging, we are committed to helping Mike achieve the best possible quality of life. Mike deeply appreciates the love and support shown by everyone, and we are both thankful to have a clearer understanding of his condition, even though it is heartbreaking.
We are touched by the kindness and support we have received throughout this journey. Mike deeply misses performing live, being in the company of friends and family, and practicing his art as a tattoo artist. He has conquered many hurdles in his legendary life and is committed to conquering this one.
Thank you to everyone for your kind words and ongoing support.
Much love,
Mike, Tracy, Ron, and the entire TSOL family
