OPD’s Banderas Family
Kelly became a member of the Orange Police Department’s Explorer post at the age of 15 and currently holds the rank of Sergeant. She has completed 3 1/2 years of volunteer service with the post; volunteering over 1000 hours to city events. Kelly was hired as a cadet with Orange PD in December 2018. Kelly graduated from Orange High School and currently attends Santiago Canyon College as a full-time student. Kelly is going to continue her education and hopes to obtain a degree in Criminal Justice and Business Administration from Cal State Fullerton. Kelly’s ultimate career goal is to become a dispatcher for Orange PD.
Kelly’s mom, Cristina, works two jobs as a housekeeper and a caregiver for the elderly. Her father, Marcos, is retired. Marcos and Cristina have dedicated many hours of volunteer service towards the Orange PD Explorer Post.
Tragically, on November 1st, this Orange PD family lost everything in a house fire. The City of Orange Police Association has found temporary housing for the family at a local hotel.
Slowly, the Banderas’ will rebuild their lives. Please come to the aid of a wonderful family who has dedicated themselves to the service of others.
