Kidney Transplant for a Veteran

Donation protected
11/11/2023 Update: its been awhile since an update. He has had some set backs and had to do some dialysis again here and there. He still has to make visits to Cleveland and on a fixed income it is still difficult. Post kidney transplant means lifetime of daily changes.

8/11/2023 UPDATE:
Bob is still in Cleveland where he has to stay for 4-6 weeks. In case of complications, he has to stay close to the hospital. His lab work looks great and they say the new kidney is starting to "wake up". He is feeling so much better but still has a long road ahead. He has struggled through the past few years on dialysis and now has to learn a whole new routine for life. He has to pay for his room at the Transplant house out of pocket. He has to have a caregiver stay with him for this whole time, his wife Dawn. The room has a stove and fridge, so they are able to cook meals to save money. So they are in need of help to cover the room and food. After the 6 weeks, he will still have to drive to Cleveland for tests on a weekly/monthly schedule for months to come. So this will also help cover gas cost for that. Thank you to all that have donated. If you cannot donate please share and please keep him in your prayers.

8/3/2023 UPDATE: Bob is doing great. His labs bounced back and he is progressing well. He has to stay at the Transplant House off the main Cleveland Clinic Hospital campus for the next 4-6 weeks. He is still not out of the woods and has a long road to recovery. He has to take 17 anti-rejection pills 2 times a day for the rest of his life. Unfortunately, he also lives with 3 small aneurysms on his heart arteries that have to be watched closely too. The past few years have been filled with more downs than ups for my brother. He lives on a disability check after 30+ years as a long distance truck driver. He has to pay for the 4-6 weeks at the transplant house out of pocket as well as groceries for the 4-6 week stay. Please continue to pray for my brother during this time and if you can help it will be greatly appreciated to take to pressure off him. If you cannot donate, please share this with your friends and family.

7/25/2023 post surgery update. Surgery was close to 5 hours followed by almost another 5 hours in recovery. He is doing very well this morning. He said he feels great. Thank you all that have prayed and helped my brother.

Hi my name is Tracy. I am setting this up for my only brother. For the last few years he has battled End-Stage Renal Failure. For years he has gone 3 days a week to dialysis for 4-5 hours a day just to stay alive. We have almost lost him several times now. One time a very painful and difficult battle with Covid that wasn't looking good for couple months. But he pulled through because he is strong. After a disappointing call that they had a kidney for him, we got the call late last night that Cleveland Clinic has a match. He is being prepped for surgery as I write this. So his biggest battle is beginning. Due to being out of work with end stage renal failure for years, they are struggling for the money needed to stay in Cleveland. Post surgery, he will be in the hospital for awhile but once released he has to stay close to the hospital due to possible complications. He has to stay in a hotel at his expense for up to 8 weeks. Even once he comes home, there will be some needs. I know times are tough but any amount helps. My brother is also a proud Veteran. Thank you in advance. Even if you cannot donate now, please share this for the family. Please keep my brother and our family in your prayers.
