Supporting Ryan through Brain Tumour treatment

Hi there family, friends and community.

I’m Jo, the Mama of Astrid and mother in law to her partner Ryan.

I am reaching out for support and help for Astrid and Ryan’s beautiful family during their time of adversity.

A couple of days before Christmas in 2023, Ryan received the devastating news that he had a brain tumour. It is a category 1 Meningioma growing on the right side of his brain. It has become so large that it has pushed his brain out of place and is causing severe headaches, nausea, loss of sensation in his arm and legs, vision deterioration, sensory issues and along with all of this he has lost his ability to work, drive and care for his family.

He needs immediate treatment as leaving it will likely result in a fatal stroke.

Most heartbreaking for Ryan and his family is that his beautiful partner Astrid is currently 9 months pregnant with their first daughter together. He will be missing out on the birth and precious first few weeks of his daughters life due to having to go in for surgery and treatment right as she will be born - basically immediately at the time of writing this.

What was suppose to be a special time for Astrid and Ryan’s family has been a time of immense stress, anxiety, sadness and not knowing what the future holds.

Ryan and Astrid need financial support to get through this tough time as both are unable to work right now.

Astrid can’t work due to having a newborn on the way and being Ryan’s full time carer - as well as being a parent to her own children and step children.

Ryan is a tattooist which involves the full use of his hands and vision which he doesn’t have right now and will not be able to work for at least six months post surgery.

The funds would go directly to paying for house rent , food for their family, petrol, school expenses, and ongoing household bills such as electricity and water.

They have done everything they can to support themselves so far by selling personal items and being diligent with budgeting and reducing their costs to only the bare minimum.

Financial support would alleviate the stress of having a newborn baby, four other children to care for and the important healing and rest Ryan must go through.

Ryan being the stoic character he is, intends to go back to work as soon as he can but has had to face the humbling truth that at this time his family really needs some help while he is out of action.
