The Francis Scott Key Lodge # 91 of the Fraternal Order of Police is currently raising funds to defray the cost of the extensive medical care and rehabilitation of retired Brother Earl Rocca, following a severe stroke suffered in late March, which has left him mostly bedridden and unable to speak.
Brother Rocca is just 51 years of age, and has spent his entire adult life in public service. He has given nearly 30 years of service to his country as a member of the US Army, where holds the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He also gave 19 years of service to his own local community as a sworn officer with the City of Frederick Police Department, and retired at the rank of Sergeant.
Brother Rocca remains an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police, despite his retired status, and active in the local community as well.
Unfortunately, Brother Rocca's condition has left him unable to care for himself, and after surgery and life-saving medical care at Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital, he was transferred last month to a Frederick area rehabilitation center for an extended stay. The medical costs have been mounting for him and his family during this difficult time, and the Fraternal Order of Police is asking for the members of the community Earl has dedicated his life to serving to step up and help him and his family deal with this extremely difficult and trying time in their lives.
The fundraising campaign's stated goal for Earl Rocca is $10,000, but please continue to give even if we appear to have reached that goal, as the bills continue to mount, and every little bit helps.
