Over time I've grown to recognize how fortunate I've been to experience life as I have. I've climbed mountains, traversed deserts, skied through blizzards and run through jungles, all because i wanted to, and was able to.
Which brings me to my next adventure. This July 28th i'll be competing in the Palisades 100 mile Ultra Marathon. This is a rugged, remote mountain run held along the Idaho and Wyoming border described as "most likely the most difficult event you'll ever undertake". The course is unforgiving, covering over a 100 miles with 50,000 feet of vertical change, most of it in a high alpine environment full of unpredictable weather, rough terrain and abundant wildlife.
The race starts and finishes at a YMCA camp in the Palisades mountains. The camp is also home to Camp Hayden (https://www.facebook.com/camphayden/ ) whose mission is to provide accessible adventures for people with disabilities and their families. Camp Hayden's story is special. They are a group of families seeking to improve the lives of individuals with special needs. Hayden Chapa, the inspiration behind the organization, showed that it’s possible for everyone, regardless of their abilities, to live a life filled with fun and adventure.
The Children with Disabilities Foundation, the organization behind Camp Hayden, is a qualified non-profit organization that needs your help. My wife Andrea and I have contributed directly to this organization because we believe in them, and we feel compelled to do more.
Andrea and I made a commitment this year to do more to help others. We're hoping, with your support, to bring awareness to a wonderful group of people who are passionate about creating opportunities to those who would otherwise not have them.
While we realize there's no shortage of people in need of your support. We kindly ask that you take a few moments to consider contributing to this organization.
