Mary G. Fire Fund

Donation protected
My name is Jacqueline and a childhood friend that I have known for 17 years recently lost everything in a fire. Yesterday, October 11th at 3:30 PM, firefighters responded to a 3-alarm fire in the Bridgeport Chicago neighborhood. A home had caught on fire and spread to the two homes nextdoor.

Unfortunately, one of those homes was an apartment that Mary was living in. She lived there alone with her dog Mateo. Although Mary was not injured and is safe, she was devastated by the loss of everything she had.

The fire took everything she had. All her furniture, bed, belongings, clothes, memories and everything. Mary was only left with the clothes on her back and her dog in her arms.

Mary is a very hard working person. She has been at her current job for more than 13 years as a pivotal and loyal employee. She is also one of the kindest and genuinely loving human beings I have ever come across. She is always trying to help others, very active in her family, friends and community and she loves spending time with her family and friends. Her nieces and other family look up to her, as they should, and being around her just brings joy to your life.

If there was anybody in this world that did not deserve to lose it all, it is definitely Mary.

We will not be able to replace the memories that the fire took away but we can help to replace her furniture, clothes, bed and belongings so that she can regain the basic comforts that every human being deserves..... especially someone as kind and special as Mary.

Mary was in the process of moving in the very near future and her insurance will not cover her losses.

We are asking that you give anything that you can. Even a small donation can go a long way to replacing the things that she needs. Clothes, basic necessities, etc.

We set a goal of $10,000 and we believe that this will cover many of the furniture and things that she needs and provides a security deposit for a new place.

There may be extra funds left over and we plan to use that money to donate back to the firefighters and families injured and affected by this fire.

Here is a link showing that there were two firefighters injured in the fire while they were rescuing persons trapped inside.

We will provide updates and full transparency of everything the funds are being used on and we will also keep everyone updated of the fund availability and what we are doing with the extra for the firefighters and families affected.

This is a very difficult time of year for everyone, especially for someone who has lost everything to an unexpected fire in the building next door and is devastated by the loss of everything she owns.

I appreciate everyone taking the time to review this. We are open to answer any questions or info that anyone would need.

I want to say thank you in advance to anybody that is planning to donate. Your help is definitely appreciated and will go a long way. Thank you to everyone keeping Mary in your prayers and thoughts.

Let's get Mary back in her own home and give her the peace of mind and security that we all have.
