Psychology trainees in Tampa, Florida are financially suffering as a result of Dream Center Education Holdings (DCEH) misappropriating federal student aid for Argosy University.  As a result, students will not receive credit balance stipends to cover living expenses for the current semester. Faculty created a food bank for students, but many face eviction, car repossession, and bankruptcy. Others felt obligated to withdraw from the training program to pursue full-time employment, some abandoning their pursuit of a psychology career.

As stated by the American Psychological Association in a letter sent to the U.S. Department of Education on March 1, 2019 (https://www.apa.org/advocacy/higher-education/devos-letter.pdf): "Their commitment to this profession comes at a critical time as our nation faces growing shortages of behavioral health providers; and individuals, families, and communities face increasing challenges because of trauma, depression, suicide, and the devastating opioid epidemic."

Trainees need help to cover living expenses in order for them to stay the course and become the competent psychologists that our country needs! Any funds raised will be equally distributed among currently enrolled students of the Florida School of Professional Psychology in Tampa, FL.
