During my childhood, my mother worked tirelessly to give me the opportunity to escape poverty and live an educated, fulfilling life. Without her, my career would have been impossible.
I honor my mother and Mara’s father’s legacy through the Family Services of Westchester, where I support two homes in White Plains. While the homes were recently renovated, 20 teenagers cause conditions to deteriorate faster than expected- as I’m sure many of you know! I am asking for your generosity to help repaint walls, repair bathroom plumbing, retile flooring, update appliances, install a hair salon in the girls home, place gym equipment in the boys home, and make a variety of other common household improvements.
The Evelyn Sachs Steiner Home for Girls and the Jerome Wagner Youth Residence for Boys provide stability, care, and tutoring for disadvantaged boys and girls. Perhaps most importantly, the homes have allowed students to enroll in college, a luxury many of us take for granted.
With your help, we will continue to provide a sense of normalcy for these teens.
