Cremation expenses for my step father
Donation protected
My name is Blair. I am raising money for the cremation services of my step father, Johnny Shipton.
My mom is on disability for heart & lung problems so she can't afford a funeral or cremation alone but we're asking for help to at least cremate him and get her an artful ashes memorial piece. That last part may have to wait and that's fine. He had started a life insurance policy about 9 months ago but didn't have it the 2 year waiting period. I originally thought that was a 1 year waiting period.
Let me explain what all has happened that led up to his unexpected death...
11/28/2020 - their whole household, my sister, mom, and step-dad, started showing symptoms of Covid-19.
12/05/2020 - He got a positive Covid test result.
12/10/2020 - He was taken to the Kings Mountain Hospital via ambulance with trouble breathing.
12/13/2020 - He was taken from the Kings Mountain Hopsital to the Shelby Hospital to be put in the Covid-19 ICU ward they have there.
12/20/2020 - They put him on a ventilator because that was their only hope to get him better.
12/22/2020 - He started spiking a fever again even though he had not had one since he left his home.
12/23/2020 - Tested positive for Ecoli in his lungs. He was started on a broad spectrum antibiotic to take care of this Ecoli.
12/27/2020 - Doctor said his oxygen on the ventilator was the highest it could go and something else was wrong but wasn't sure what. They figured out that he was bleeding into his lungs but the source was unknown. My mom finally got to see her husband but was still separated by the glass door, she couldn't touch him or talk to him and had to be by herself.
12/28/2020 - 2:50 a.m. The doctors call and say get to the hospital now if you want to see him alive again that he was flat lining. We go to the hospital, my sister, mom, and I, and he's passed away at 3:11 a.m. We got to see him through a glass door were he had already passed away. She still couldn't even hug him or hold his hand for the last time.
Now, we're home and trying to figure out how to bury him. I wish I had the money and I'd hand it over but I'm just an average Joe working to survive. If you can find it in your heart to donate, it'd be greatly appreciated. If you can't financially donate. Please pray for comfort and a way to come along and help her.
If you feel more comfortable donating directly through the funeral home please contact J.B. Tallent Funeral Home on Sharon Amity Rd. in Charlotte, NC. I know sometimes it seems sketchy when someone is asking for donations, all I can do otherwise is promise you it's legit and let God lead us all through this. My step-dad's name, Johnny Shipton, should be on their website soon along with his obituary. You can call to make a payment on his service or you can use their website as soon as his name pops up or you can fillin the "don't see your loved ones name" category.
His private family service will be tomorrow at 11 a.m.
I also have PayPal and Zelle if you prefer those donation methods since GoFundMe does charge a fee to us to withdrawal the funds, just DM me for the info.
We appreciate everything everyone has done so far.
