GoFudgeMe!!! Fudgie's car torched by vandals!
Donation protected
Our beloved friend, Lu Read, aka Fudgie Frottage, was the unfortunate recipient of a senseless act of vandalism very recently, on 6/22, when his car was torched on the street while he was taking a swim at a neighborhood public pool.
The car was left a burnt out disaster, impounded by SFPD pending an arson investigation. A witness reported that the car had been vandalized with the trunk bashed in long before he saw smoke or flames. The trunk of the car had SF Drag King promotional materials inside, so this is a potential hate crime.
Fudgie is a pioneering figure in San Francisco gender culture, who helped launch the Drag King movement in the 1990s and has kept it alive and vital for over a quarter century. LEGEND!!!
Now it's time to support him during this crisis. Come on, Fam -- let's help this OG, who has always been there to support friends, family and their pets during a crisis, not to mention as a longstanding organizer of events to benefit PAWS (Pets Are Wonderful Support), Rocket Dog Rescue, and other charities.
The car was a collector's item that would take over $20K to replace (though it was purchased for a song in 2004). However, if we can raise just enough money to provide him with reliable transportation, that would be awesome!
Fudgie says HUGE THANKS to friends who have already donated via venmo @houseoffudge (this is an option if you prefer).
