Help for my Mom's Final Viewing
Donation protected
Dearest Friends,
I am asking for donatations to meet our goal of $5000 to help pay for my mom's final viewing ceremony and cremation. This is the "average" cost the funeral place quoted us.
Cecilia Kish (my mom) is the strongest woman I know and she is in her final days and wants this ceremony. We talked about what kind of dress she would wear and I bought her a new wig (cancer took her hair) and what songs she wants played. The thing is the family can't afford it. I'm still in school working paycheck to paycheck to make ends meet and it will be devastaing if we can only do the cremation (about $1000) with no ceremony.
Cecilia was a smart and loving mother. Although we never had much she tried her best. She was in a bad car accident when I was a child and became disabled. She also fell victim to abusive relationships that was a destructive cycle for almost her entire life. In the last few years she finally was able to overcome that abuse and for the first time in her life found a place by herself that she could call "home".
It's not much but it is hers (paying rent with disability checks) and she felt safe there. It's actually an old garage in someone's backyard that was renovated into a little "cottage" (as my mom calls it). It was perfect for my mom; I've never seen her happier or been more proud of her. She was for the first time independant and doing well on her own.
Then the cancer started to spread...
When the cancer got so bad the doctor's took her off the transplant list and she decided to spend her final days here in the first place she was ever able to call her own.
Today, my mom fell out of her wheelchair and was rushed to the emergency room. Who knows how much time we will have but as of right now (October 14th) the family has no money put away and my mom does not have life insurance. We thought we would have more time.
I hate taking hand outs and never ask for anything from anyone. We grew up in poverty and I am still working on getting an education so I can have a career one day. We were taught to work for what we want and believe me I am working everyday. But I am scared that we won't get the money in time and my mom won't be able to have a ceremony.
Please help in any way possible. At this point any contribution will go a long way.
With gratitude,
Mollie Kish
