Hello friends, family, and kind-hearted supporters,
My name is Summer Ware, and I am currently in my last term of college, working toward my nursing career. However, our family is facing a significant challenge that has made balancing school, work, and family care more difficult than we ever anticipated.
My husband, Brion (35), has been battling congestive heart failure (CHF) for the past four and a half years, a condition that developed after COVID-19 attacked his heart. Despite his ongoing battle with heart failure, Brion has shown incredible strength and resilience, with the unwavering support of family and friends. Over these years, he has been hospitalized multiple times due to complications from his condition.
On March 7, 2025, Brion’s health took a severe downturn, and he was admitted to the hospital in Henderson, Texas. He was immediately transferred to Baylor Scott and White in Dallas, where he underwent an emergency LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device) placement. The LVAD is a mechanical pump surgically implanted to assist the heart in circulating blood throughout the body. This life-saving device is a critical step in Brion's treatment and is a bridge to a potential heart transplant.
As of March 20, 2025, we are thankful that Brion is home, but the road to recovery will be long and demanding. His recovery requires frequent and extensive travel. He will need to make weekly trips to Dallas for LVAD follow-up appointments, and he will also need to travel three times a week to Longview for cardiac rehabilitation and physical therapy. Additionally, he will have regular lab work to monitor the function of his LVAD. In the next six months, his doctors also plan a gastric sleeve procedure to help him with weight loss, which is critical for getting approved for the heart transplant list.
While we are incredibly grateful for the support we’ve already received, the costs associated with travel are quickly adding up. We are humbly asking for your help with gas money or even donations for gas to ease this financial burden. Your contributions will directly support Brion’s recovery and ensure that he can attend these crucial medical appointments that are vital for his long-term health.
I am also trying to complete my final term of college during this time, and your support would allow me to continue my education while providing the necessary care for Brion.
Any amount you can contribute will be deeply appreciated, and we are grateful for your kindness, prayers, and encouragement. Please also feel free to share this with others who may wish to help.
For those who wish to donate outside of the fundraiser, we also have CashApp and Chime available. Both tags are $ummer47.
Thank you so much for being part of Brion’s journey toward recovery. Your support means the world to us.
With heartfelt gratitude,
