Fuel Jace White's Future in Media and Film Communications

Hello, my name is Jace White. As I near the end of my senior year at Booker T. Washington Magnet High School in Montgomery, Alabama, I am excited about the possibilities of life following graduation I have applied for admission to several schools and was accepted at FAMU, Troy University, and The University of Alabama. In researching costs of attendance, I discovered that out-of-state tuition is much higher than in-state tuition and fees. I have also spoken with representatives at Alabama and Troy University, both of which have great schools for broadcast and film communications. The difference in tuition and costs between the two universities is roughly 2,000 dollars per semester. I have applied for several scholarships; Alabama and Troy have awarded 6,000 and 5,000 dollars, per year, and a one time stipend of 2,300 and 1,000 dollars, respectively. I've also applied for federal funds through FAFSA and, due to my student aid index, qualified for zero dollars. None. Nothing. However, the federal government is not accounting for my parents support of multiple college age children. Therefore, it is up to me to make up for the shortage of roughly 20,000 dollars per year. Don't get me wrong, I will continue my job at Starbucks Coffee Company and have applied for several scholarships to include: the Omega Psi Phi Essay Contest (300 dollars awarded), the Kappa League Vote Video Contest (300 dollars awarded), and the Kappa League Legacy Contest (250 dollars awarded). I'm waiting to hear from at least three other organizations and will keep everyone apprised of my progress through this page and my website to be released within 2 weeks. Here's to the first step toward my dreams and visions to establish a news media and journalism business for all deserving students.
