Fuel Katie's Dream: From Reservation to NYC
Donation protected
My name is Katie Medicine Bull, I am an enrolled member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe and a descendent of the Salish and Navajo Tribes. I am seeking financial support for my travel to Brooklyn, New York as a selected artist for the annual Our Community Record display (for more information please visit https://photoville.nyc/exhibition/rezmade/). I will be departing on June 10th and spending the week in New York at the Brooklyn Bridge Park to participate in this event with opportunities to speak and visit with patrons about my photographs.
In 2022, my photograph was selected to be displayed during the “Reconnecting With” exhibition at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles. My photograph was selected from 1,700 other submissions throughout the nation and was viewed by more than 20,000 visitors.
This year with the MAPS Media Institute I was filmed and featured in an interview for my artwork. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_4BEFSG4HE)
As an aspiring student in the field of photography, I believe that this trip will greatly enhance my ability to talk about my artwork with the public, and I am excited to bring back the knowledge and experiences as I enroll in the School of Fine Arts at the Salish and Kootenai Collage.
I am requesting funding support for this trip. Your donation will cover the expenses during this exciting adventure.
Thank you for considering my request. Your support will make a significant difference.
Katie.
