Fuel Lauren Aguilar's College Wrestling Journey

Hello !!

My name is Lauren Aguilar. I am a student-athlete here in the Bay Area. I currently attend Burlingame High School, here in the Peninsula. I am the captain of the wrestling team and I have just finished my Junior season.

Recently I have been blessed with the opportunity to wrestle at the 2024 Junior National Duals. Wrestling at this tournament will not only give me more opportunities to wrestle in college but to go to college in general. An article from the U.S. News & World Report states "The number of submitted [college] applications rose by 21.3% between 2019-2020 and 2021-2022, according to a March 2022 Common Application report, which included data from 853 member schools". On top of schools becoming more competitive, they have also become more expensive. "The average cost of college tuition in the U.S. for undergraduate students has more than tripled, multiplying by 3.15 times over the last 58 years, according to data from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).

At this tournament, I will be able to showcase my skills to college recruiters. I am hoping that as I showcase my arsenal of skills here, I will be offered a better opportunity to pay for college. It has always been a goal of mine since I was a kid to go to college. In hopes of studying Kinesiology and Sports medicine. It is very important to me to go to college. To give myself a comfortable life, a life where I could treat myself and give back to the community that supports me.

With any funding to help me travel to this tournament, I will be able to achieve my goals. This tournament will open up many opportunities for me. The money donated to me will help cover things such as uniforms, lodging food, tournament entry, etc. Any amount of help is very appreciated.
