Fuel Nairobi Feline Sanctuary's Rescue Mission
Donation protected
The Nairobi Feline Sanctuary, based in Nairobi, Kenya, is dedicated to rescuing and sheltering cats. We currently care for 630 cats and five dogs, operating primarily on funds from our founder's income and donations from kind supporters. Since our formal establishment on January 1, 2020, we have been rescuing cats from across Kenya.
One of the major challenges we face is the lack of a dedicated vehicle. Without a van, we are forced to hire transportation each time we respond to rescue calls, which is both costly and inefficient. The inability to quickly access transport delays our response, especially in emergencies, such as when cats are injured on highways. In many cases, we can only afford to hire motorbikes, which is particularly stressful for vulnerable cats, including kittens and nursing mothers.
To address this issue, we are raising funds to purchase a small utility vehicle. Having a reliable van would enable us to respond to rescue calls promptly and help more cats in need. Additionally, the vehicle would reduce the strain on our resources by cutting down on transportation costs.
Beyond rescues, the vehicle would generate additional income for the sanctuary. During off-peak hours, we plan to operate a ride-share service to and from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, located nearby. We also aim to offer pet transportation services, such as trips to veterinary appointments. The revenue generated from these services would help cover the sanctuary’s operational expenses.
We are seeking $46,000 to purchase the vehicle and an additional $1,000 to cover a year’s worth of full coverage insurance. This support will greatly enhance our ability to save more lives while easing the financial strain on our shelter.
