Fuel Nick's Journey Back Home

Selflessly neither of them wanted a fundraiser. However Miranda took a leave of absence from work and has not left his side, for nearly 3 months. Often spending the night at the hospital and arriving home with just enough time to wish the girls a good day at school, freshen up, and back to be with Nick. Grateful for their parents and family that have the girls routines memorized and have kept the house functioning smoothly.

Insurance is there to provide most coverage, therefore these donations are geared to help with groceries, gas, household expenses, to cover some loss of income and now adding the necessary adaptive equipment to continue his recovery with PT, OT, and to finally be home with his girls.

Nicks medical story:

As some of you may know, Dominick was admitted on April 10th at Maple Grove Hospital. He was initially found to be in Atrial Fibrillation and retaining fluid. After a couple nights, he started to go unresponsive during the night and they were unable to obtain an airway so he had to have a tracheostomy placed. He was transferred to North Memorial. It was found that his thyroid had enlarged so much that it was cutting off his airway. He had surgery to remove his Thyroid. After a couple weeks he was transferred to Regency Hospital for recovery. After a week or so, his tracheostomy was removed. He then had a few complications and had to be transferred back to North Memorial on his 40th birthday and had to have his tracheostomy replaced. After stabilizing, he was transferred back to Regency. Where he has had to relearn how to walk and is working hard to get back home with his family. He was accepted to an Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation program at North Memorial. The hope is that he will be able to come home at the end of June.
