100% of the money raised will be used to buy meals from NYC restaurants who are reeling from the coronavirus and feed our healthcare workers who are on the front-lines battling this pandemic. The first delivery will be made Monday, March 30th.
We spend $500-1,000 per meal to feed 25-100 hospital workers. Every dollar is being injected back into the NYC restaurant industry in order to support our small businesses and show appreciation to our friends, family, neighbors, and fellow New Yorkers and Americans on the front lines.
We are providing food to departments within New York Presbyterian Hospitals, NYU Langone, NYU Bellevue, and Lenox Health. We are hoping to make deliveries to other NYC hospitals including Mount Sinai, Elmhurst Hospital, and more. If you know anyone at these hospitals, please let us know.
Each day I, Cole Berman, withdraw the money and buy the meals from local restaurants to feed workers in our local hospitals. Every dollar spent and every receipt is accounted for by Fuel the Fight - NYC.
Fuel the Fight was started in Philadelphia and because of its success, we are bringing these efforts to NYC! Many of you have reached out to say that NYC restaurants and healthcare workers are in need of the same support. We are ready to help.
The human spirit is truly amazing. Earlier this week, New York asked for retired and private practice doctors to volunteer as the system was experiencing a stress test like never before. Within the hour, over 1000 nurses and doctors had volunteered, many of them retirees, putting them smack in the middle of the danger zone. The definition of heroism is happening right before our eyes.
Make no mistake, we are at war with an invisible enemy. We as a People, not a country, but a People must come together in times like these if we’re going to prevail. And that starts with doing our individual part.
We’ve all seen the recent headlines about different athletes, celebrities, businesspeople and others stepping up and helping to feed families, school children, arena workers, etc. and it’s that positive energy and human spirit we need to continue to push forward.
We were thinking of how we could step up and after watching an incredible video going viral of a group of apartments surrounding a hospital applauding and cheering as the Doctors and Nurses finished their shift, we came up with a plan.
We wanted to highlight our Healthcare workers who are on the front lines right now. Overworked, understaffed, separated from loved ones, exhausted and hungry, these warriors are fighting every hour of every day to save our loved ones and keep the rest of us safe.
So while you may not have a million dollars to donate, you’re likely asking yourself “How can I help?”
Here’s what we’re doing:
1. We’re partnering with local restaurants that are struggling to survive and providing local hospitals with catered meals for all of their healthcare workers.
2. We’re creating a gofundme to raise money to support these heroes during this incredibly difficult time, 100% of donations will be used to feed our healthcare heroes
3. Depending on the money we raise we will provide as many meals to NYC-area hospitals as we can and will roll-out in new cities if there is enough money.
Here’s how you can help:
1. Whether it’s $1 or $1,000 dollars, it doesn’t matter. Anything helps.
2. Do your part and stay inside. This isn’t a joke, it’s not a drill, it’s the most serious global crisis that has ever happened to any human being alive today, don’t take it lightly.
Thank you for your consideration and support!
