Fuel The Neons' Journey to Iowa State! Graland Problem 5

We are the Neons! We are 4th graders from Graland Country Day School and we have been on quite a journey! We are participating in an international creativity competition called Odyssey of the Mind. This year, we chose "Problem 5: "Rocking World Detour". We came up with a hilarious 8-minute skit where we are an 80s band called The Neons who are supposed to play at a huge 80s party at Oprah's house in Sydney but we get detoured when Siri gets directions to the Opera House in Sydney instead! The Opera fans are not happy with our 80s tunes! Our creativity earned us 1st place at our regional competition and then 1st place in the state of Colorado!!! Now we are now raising money to get our whole team to Iowa State University at the end of May to compete at the World finals against teams from all over the US and the entire global! More information about Colorado Odyssey of the Mind: A creative problem solving program for kids K-College, Odyssey of the Mind teams choose one long term problem to solve. In the process of solving their problem, children learn to think outside the box, work together to develop creative solutions to broadly defined problems, and present their solution in an 8 minute performance. Teams are rewarded for not just solving the problem, but for enhancing their solution with style and teams compete in an on-the-spot spontaneous problem as part of the competition.
