Join our Journey - The Mark Paine Memorial Scholarship Fund

Hi, my name is Chris Paine. We have created the Mark Paine Memorial Scholarship to honor the memory of Mark Paine who passed away far too soon on February 21, 2024. Mark was a loving father of two children, Decker (5) and Charlie (3), son, brother, uncle and amazing friend to so many. As some of you may know, we have begun the planning for our first annual Mark Paine Memorial Scholarship golf tournament which kicks off on Monday.

Our goal is to raise funds in an effort to provide a memorial scholarship in Mark’s name on a yearly basis to a Saratoga Springs High School senior on the Men’s varsity Ice Hockey team. We are also looking to use the money in our local community to help aid other local youth sports programs, provide some free Mark Paine goalie clinics and much more. We have so many great ideas to keep Mark’s memory and name alive! BUT it will take all of us to do that! So many people have reached out to ask how they can contribute, so we have decided to use this as a way for individuals and families to contribute to this great cause in Mark’s memory.

Athletics were a VERY big part of Mark’s life and helped shape him into the person he became. He was a first team all state goaltender and NYS champion in 1999 for the Saratoga High school men’s ice hockey team. He played 5 seasons for the high school program and 4 seasons on the SUNY Cortland Men’s Ice Hockey team in college. Mark was also a 3 year varsity baseball player during his time at Saratoga High School.

Our ideal scholarship candidate is someone who is pursuing a college education, is a great teammate and leader, and a respected student. These are all values Mark carried. This scholarship opportunity wouldn’t be made possible without the support of so many friends, family, coworkers, and our very generous sponsors.
