Fukushima Kids Hawaii 9-Summer 2019
Donation protected
Aloha friends and supporters of Fukushima Kids Hawaii,
We appreciate your interest and concern for the wellbeing of Fukushima children.
As radiation in Fukushima is still high and we are aware of the effect of the radiation especially to the younger children, we started inviting children, baby and moms of Fukushima to Hawaii since 2013.
Now we have one summer program (1 month stay in Hawaii) only and discontinued baby/mom long term stay of 3 months due to lack of resources.
2019 is the 9th of such a program.
This year (2019) we aim to raise $20,000.

We will be fundraising by concerts, ZUMBA parties and special talk events in Kona and Japan (we succeeded raising $3000 so far this year), and this GoFundMe is the Most Reliable source of fund for us as anyone in the world can donate.
If you have financial resource, please make a donation.
If you have friends who care, please share this site.
Every donation makes a differnece and we appreciate whatever you can give so that we can support Fukushima children.
Your support made us possible to have 105 children, babies and moms from Fukushima so far. It is quite an accomplishment.
Thank you, Mahalo and Arigato.
Every summer program, Fukushima children get to spend last 3 nights in Oahu at Chiemi and Frankie's gorgeous "White Castle", which is so special for them. Thank you, Chiemi and Frankie, for your continuous support to Fukushima Kids!

We have 14 children age 8 to 18 from Fukushima here in Kailua Kona, Hawaii, with 3 chaperons(moms), participating our Fukushima Kids Hawaii Project Winter School 2014, from Dec 15, 2014 to Jan 7, 2015.
They have experienced earthquake and tsunami on March 11, 2011 and nuclear disaster with 3 meltodowns of nuclear power plants following the earthquake. In spite of all the effort to stop the radiatoin leakage, the 3 broken nuclear reactors still release tons of radiation contiuously, the level of radiation in some parts of Fukushima is higher than what we consider normal and livable.
But most of the people in Fukushima still live there as our government changed the safe standard of radiation higher (from 1 millsievert to 20 millsievert per year) after Marcn 11, 2011 so that it is "safe" and livable in Fukushima.
As a result, about 270,000 children are still living in Fukushima today and 40% of those children have developed thyoid cysts, 103 confirmed thyroid canser.
We, myself and my husband Gen, both evacuees from Chiba after the disaster, started Fukushima Kids Hawaii in 2013 to invite children from Fukushima to Kona for a healthy respite for healing and learning. We have hosted 62 children and families from Fukushima so far.
While their stay in Kona, they get to learn how to harvest from the organic farm, to cook healthy melas, to learn to speak peacefully through NVC, learnt to heal themselves naturally, and will regain the vitality and optimal health. They go to swim in the ocean, swim with dolphins and watch humpack whales.
This winter, we have more children (normally 5~8 children for summer/winter school, but this time 14 children) than ever due to the popular demand, and we have been trying so hard to raise fund to cover the cost of their airfares, meals, lodging and activities.
But we have not reached the funding goal yet to cover the expenses of this winter program. That is why I started gofundme today.
If you can help us any way, you will be helping Fukushima children directly. All of our staff are volunteers including myself.
We thank you from the bottom of our heart for supporting Fukushima children who need a healthy respite from radiation.
The meals for the children alone cost $5000 ($5/meal times 1008 during their stay :24 days for 14 children eating 3 times a day).
