Fulfill My Dad’s Dream of Publishing a Book
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Ali LaNasa. In December of 2022, my dad, Marion LaNasa, was diagnosed with Primary CNS Lymphoma, a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. After his diagnosis, we began talking about his life goals and bucket list wishes. He said that, throughout his life, it had been his dream to write and publish a book. In a class I was taking at Tulane University in the spring of 2023, I was given the assignment of writing a children's book. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity for my dad to fulfil his lifelong wish. My dad, my mom, and I decided to write a book based on the story my dad had always told me when I was younger, Little Bunny Foo Foo. After writing our story, I submitted the story to a local publishing house, and it was accepted! Shortly after the book was accepted, my dad's condition worsened dramatically. In our last few conversations, my dad, who struggled with his memory, continously asked how our book was doing and if we had collected enough donations for the book to be published. Unfortunately, my professor could only collect around $750 in donations from benefactors, but I hope this post can gain the attention and support it needs to fulfill my dad's dream. Any additional funds garnered by this post will be donated to the Ochsner Cancer Institute where my dad received care throughout his battle.
