Fulfilling Ken Simpson's Last Wish

Donation protected

Hello, my name is Amanda Simpson and I am blessed to be the daughter of a special man, Ken Simpson.

I am asking for help to cover funeral costs and bills for my dad who was diagnosed with a rare lung cancer in September of 2023 and is now on home hospice. Before I explain the medical side, I believe it’s important you know who my father was…who he IS. As long as I can remember my dad always said he lives for his kids and instilled the value in us that family is the most important thing in life beyond God. A value he held true and remained the glue that binded us. He always went above and beyond as a parent to support me and my brother (passed away in 2016), to let us know he was proud of us and pick us up when we needed it…even as adults. He never raised his voice, praised God for the smallest things in his life and always felt he should do the right thing and help others. While undergoing chemo and radiation, barely being able to walk and in never ending pain, my dad would race to the door to hold it open for a capable person because ‘it’s the right thing to do baby’. Even during financially difficult times he would choose multiple tables at a restaurant and pay for their meals, asking the staff to keep it anonymous. He took pride in serving his country and always felt ‘undeserving’ if someone tried to give him a veterans discount - so much so it took convincing for him to tell Lowe’s he was a vet! He worked 7 days a week building houses or some form of framing with unveiling passion. This is my role model, my father.

In September of 2023, he was diagnosed with a rare lung cancer which had already spread to his spine. Since that short period he underwent extensive spinal surgery, had a PEG feeding tube placed as a result of radiation burning his throat, radiation, chemotherapy -his doctor started it 8 months in… a decision I will forever regret because 1.5 months into chemo, we found out the cancer had reached every organ and bone in his body after an ER visit, June 1st. He had hope of getting better up until that day and sadly he has quickly gone down hill. He has surpassed every date given by nurses of not making it because I believe he’s a natural fighter. But fight or not, this is a battle we all lose to that will forever change our lives.

I’m asking for help so I can afford to bury my father next to his son in Ga. Unfortunately, funeral costs are high and money is low since I haven’t been able to work in 5 weeks now. All funds go directly towards helping honor his wishes and I appreciate every penny that’s donated or simply sharing this story. Hold your family close and may God bless us all.
