Full Professional Flea Extermination ASAP!

Hi, my name is Emery! I've created this campaign because I am at my wits' end with a severe flea infestation in my new apartment, and this is too big for me to handle on my own.

Last year, I stayed for 3 months in a residential mental healthcare facility in Atlanta, and I got out of it excited to find a place and start fresh back in Asheville. Unfortunately, that has not gone to plan. With 3 separate moves and one very particularly horrible and traumatizing move-out in the last 9 months, I have been chronically stressed and consistently feeling no sense of security. Luckily, I found a place, and it happens to be the same building I lived in a year ago!

HOWEVER, unbenownst to me, the previous roommates left the apartment severely infested with fleas. For the past 2 months I was paying rent and could not live there because they would attack as soon as I opened the front door. For the sake of ease of travel to my job, I moved in anyway, and have been dealing with the flea infestation on the front lines single-handedly.

We are now on month 3 of a severe infestation, still catching and seeing dozens and dozens of fleas per day, with no pet currently in the home. I vacuum 3 hours daily, try floor treatments, flea traps, and do an insane amount of research, but I'm getting exhausted and frustrated and I just want to be able to set up my room and feel like I finally have a safe and comfortable home.

The reality is, I can't keep trying to fix this, and I'm devastated that I can't relax in my own place that took so long for me to find. For my birthday this year, November 12th, all I want is to be able to have this place flea-free and to feel like a normal person, not have to wear boots and long socks indoors and keep my clothing in bags. I set up my room but had to deconstruct it so that I could vacuum under and around everything daily. It's wearing on me. I have diagnosed OCD and I'm having nightmares and feeling and seeing fleas that aren't there. Besides that, we need to get our sweet new roommate moved in ASAP, but I don't want to put her through what happened to me. This is hell.

That's why I'm asking for $500 towards a professional exterminator. I have paid for treatments through the apartment complex out of pocket, and none of it has worked. $500 is at the top of the price bracket for flea exterminations through Orkin, which include property inspection, a personalized plan, and follow-up treatments which the apartment complex refuses to provide. I'm already in talks with their inspector to get a more accurate quote. Emotionally and financially, I can't afford for this not to go away as soon as possible. I need to ensure that this problem will be gone and have enough to cover any potential remaining treatments. ANY little bit helps. I'm out of money, because ironically the rent for this place is higher and I haven't been able to set up my desk and work on portraits in this room, so I'm hoping with my birthday right around the corner maybe people could just donate to this fundraiser so I can celebrate my 26th in my own place without paranoia and stress. All I want this year is to feel happy, safe, and secure, and to get my life started again.
