Fund a Field Trip to Mars!

Hello! My name is Britaney Phillips, also known as Future Teacher in Space. I am a high school engineering teacher outside Nashville, Tennessee. It is my passion to educate, inspire, and encourage students of all ages in spaceflight and STEM. I have been afforded the opportunity to attend various events and launches to help share an immersive experience for students, which now will lead me to Mars! Well, a simulated Mars.
High atop the Mauna Loa volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii sits the HI-SEAS habitat. Hawaii Space Exploration Analog and Simulation is a 1,200 square foot dome set atop Mars-like geography that hosts researchers from all over the world for different duration missions, preparing future missions to the Moon and Mars! The HI-SEAS simulation deeply immerses the crew into what it is like to be isolated in space in many ways, to include visual isolation, a simulated communications delay of 20 minutes to mission control, and an airlock and space suits for any EVA (spacewalks).
I am so excited to bring my classroom to this mission. I will be using curriculum standards on energy applications to show real-world scenarios of how renewable energy can use in-situation resources to use hydrogen fuel cells for a safe energy source. Not only will this research help for future space exploration missions, but it is also a green way to create renewable energy here on earth.
Funds will help me with mission and travel costs. Thank you for your support!
