Fund a veterans need

Update: Thanks to the generous people who donated I can now afford the car. It is going to make everything so much easier and I can not thank you all enough. I hate to ask for any more help since I have already been blessed, but I am still behind on our monthly house payments by nearly two months. I was able to apply for a hardship clause, however, the leniency they offered wasn't by much. On top of that, I'm going to be starting treatment by next month. The doctors have offered a nuclear option, they could surgically remove my voicebox to remove my cancer, however, that would leave me unable to talk anymore. At my age, I am not the best with technology and I even still ask my grandson for help. So my ability to communicate would be all but diminished, With this it will take away the independency of being able to talk for myself, something I wouldn't want as I need to be able to communicate with others. As some may know I still work at my age, With my treatments now coming up it will be harder to work. Although I could apply for social security I have had issues in the past with signing up, and I do not wish to go through that again. Due to my illness, I'd need to eat more organically, however with the prices of food nowadays it's much harder to eat organically. If anybody knows any locations of good organic foods locations or any good tips for a healthy lifestyle please contact my grandson at [email redacted]. I am grateful to those who donated and even those who considered donating, I can hardly believe the generosity and kindness that people are giving me.

Hello, my name is Walter E Schermerhorn. I am 76, a veteran, and a devoted father and husband. I served two full terms in a war that had too many losses. I have worked nearly every day in my life, starting at ten when I would take the milkman's milk to the houses. I was paid a quarter a day, then after working my shift, I'd go to school. This kept up until the day I turned 18 and I joined the military. I would have joined at 17 when I had graduated but my father refused to sign the paperwork, simply for the survivor benefits he received from me over my mother's death. I traveled from Massachusetts to Texas, both to escape that home and to give myself some semblance of freedom and purpose. After serving I went to Kansas where I met my wife. I got married at 20 and have stayed married to this day. It has been 55 years. Now I financially care for my disabled son, and my wife, along with my grandson. My son has hydrocephalus, the doctors always said he wouldn't make it to the age of three, they wanted us to put him in a home, but we refused vehemently. Today he is 53, but riddled with health issues. My wife is in remission from liver cancer, and survivor of many health issues, along with suffering from some form of bad luck. Not four months ago she was hit by a semi-truck while driving my van. Thankfully the van was sturdy enough to keep her mostly safe and alive. Another person in my home who I care for is my grandson, whose father was my second-born son, who was tragically killed by a hit-and-run driver. My grandson suffers from a litany of issues, the most problematic of which is his depression, stress, anxiety, and seizure disorders, leaving him unable to drive and operate in society for the most part. Due to me not having my van, my wife's car was used much more and was rear-ended, and T-boned. The accidents happen on separate occasions. The T-bone had hit the car close to the wheel, close enough leaving the wheel bearings in bad shape. Now onto what this need is, A nearby tire shop is willing to sell me a car for 3,000, however, due to house payments, bill payments, and occasional Uber fees, I am not able to afford this. I am in dire need of this however as without a car I am not going to be able to ensure the care of my family without putting even further strain on myself. In truth I'd have simply taken another job, however this is no longer an easy option. In my many years of life, I have had many injuries, ailments, and things to inhibit me. Recently I was diagnosed with throat cancer. This paired with my knee replacement, and surgery on my back, my job options are very limited. Any help with this goal would be a blessing to me and my family. In truth, this is a hail mary for me. We are in dire need of anything, if we can't put this towards a car I am at least hoping to put it towards house payments. Again, any help will be an absolute blessing, and at the very least I thank you for your time in reading this.
