Fund Alex's First Studio Album!

Dear GoFundMe Community, Hello! For those who know me, hey how's it going? For those who don't know me: Hi! My name is Alex Arlotta. I'm a current graduate student at BerkleeNYC studying Writing and Design For Musical Theatre. I'm aiming to graduate in the summer to pursue an Actor/Musician/Composer/Music Director/Arranger career alongside the other multi-hyphenates in the world. The first step in this journey is starting, enter: "Gotta Start Somewhere", a musical theatre album entirely composed (teehee) of standalone songs I've written by myself or with some kick-butt collaborators. Now, I could begin to elaborate conceptually on how this album will speak for those who want to achieve their ultimate goal but don't know where to start, semi-promote the new musical I'm working on about individuals who are stuck and need to find somewhere to go, and throw in a bunch of jargon on how this album will change the industry forever, I digress (although I fully believe this album will be a wonderful jumpstart!) Why a musical theatre album? Growing up, like many others, the theatre was my safe haven. From the moment I got to stand onstage as a wee lad, I knew for certain that this is where I belong. After putting on costumes and singing until my face turned blue, I decided to pursue this in my undergrad. What inspired this? Throughout my four years at CAP21, I discovered an incredible amount about myself as an artist, in addition to where I want to go after I'm let out into "the real world". In my senior year, I wrote an entire show alongside half of my cohort, and while it was a quick turnaround, I noticed that writing and discovering new songs was something I loved. Sometimes during lunch or after class, I would pull a couple of friends aside and ask them to hum a melody I came up with or test out some lyrics I've written; and being theatre kids, it was the best rendition I could've asked for. After that, the writing bug hasn't gone away...there's no cure!! To be candid: I've never created a crowdsourcing campaign, nor asked so many individuals to help support me pursue my musical dreams. The irony of "Gotta Start Somewhere" begins to sink in. I feel like we've all done something for the first time, petrified of how to get to the result, and this album is my first step. Timeline: • Recording: Jan-May 2023 • Editing/Mixing: May-June 2023 • Release: July 2023 • Live Concert: TBD (Note: Dates/Costs may fluctuate) If you insist, it would mean the world to me if you could help me get my project on its feet. While this isn't Kickstarter or Indiegogo, if you send me a message after backing, maybe I'll write a little personalized jingle...or hell...come to your house and serenade your whole family!!!
