Fund an electric wheelchair

Hi my name is Sarah and I'm fundraising to buy an electric wheelchair!

I have a disability called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. It's a genetic condition that affects all of the connective tissue in my body. I live with chronic pain, joint dislocations, chronic fatigue and a whole host of digestive issues. You can find more of my story on TikTok: nauseatedsarah

Walking causes immense pain in my feet, knees, and hips and can lead to dislocations of my knees. On light pain days you can see me walking with a stick on very good days, or more often than not, being pushed in my wheelchair by my family/friends. Because of frequent elbow dislocations, I cannot push my own wheelchair. Therefore I always require someone to accompany me and push me.

It's frustrating to go out on trips but not be able to have a conversation with whoever I'm with because they're behind me and struggle to hear. I'd love to be able to "walk" alongside my husband and hold his hand while we're out. I'd love the freedom to go and look at things on my own, and not be reliant on someone else to push me. I would just love to get out of the house more often and not worry about being in pain or dislocating my joints.

Unfortunately electric wheelchairs are ridiculously expensive, anywhere between £1k and £3k for lightweight folding ones. As such they are frequently inaccessible to those who really need them. I would be so grateful if you could contribute a little towards the cost of a chair and help me gain some independence.
