Fund an Exciting New Short Film: 'HUNTER'

Donation protected
Hey there! My name is Joshua Black, and I'm a film student, screenwriter, and up-and-coming filmmaker out of Perth, Western Australia. I am fundraising for Hunter, an excitingly tense yet personal and introspective 10-12 minute short film being made in conjunction with SAE University College and my course there.

Attached is Hunter's Pitch Deck, which includes story information, production timeline and budget breakdown:

As a child growing up with autism, I always struggled with fitting in, often lashing out against teachers and rules. Having pulled myself together as I grew up, I continue to struggle with guilt or regret, even though these outbursts stemmed from misunderstandings or reactions to mistakes made by others, never from a place of malice. For this reason, morality has always interested me, especially asking where the line of good and bad sits.

This proposed film and it's story subtextually battles between the two moral standpoints, on the field of relativism. Hunter, being ex-military has acclimatised to morality standing second to the context or stakes. Victor - representing Hunter's rival ideology - reflects elements of this relativism outside of his economic stance, outside of which he is a religious, ex-cop; two things that offer distinct black-and-white views.

My goal with ‘Hunter’ is to ask that question of the audience; does a bad thing done for a good reason make somebody a morally bad person, or put simply, are you a bad person for being willing to do anything for the ones you love?

With your help we can make this film the best it can be, with funds going predominantly towards finding and affording the best locations as well as to support our production design elements, to ensure we can fully immerse our audiences into the world and ideas of Hunter's world. With the drive to push student filmmaking forward, we also intend on putting some of the money towards equipment - mostly anamorphic lenses and lighting equipment that we otherwise do not have access to through SAE.

I am excited to bring you this project and I know that with your help we can deliver an incredible project that boosts the names of my crew out into the Perth Film Industry!
