Fund Cassie's Humanitarian Trip to Greece
I will be traveling to Chios, Greece, where I will be working as a Humanitarian Aid volunteer at the Syrian Refugee Camp. Along with other volunteers, members of the community, and trained professionals at the Chios Refugee Camp, I will be working directly with the desperate men, women, and children escaping violence in their home countries. I'm asking for donations to help fund my work overseas.
Additionally, please share my fundraiser link on social media. The more exposure I get, the faster I will reach my fundraising goal.
Thank you in advance for your contribution, share, or simple "good vibe" thoughts directed my way. I am incredibly fortunate to have such an exceptionally diverse community to call on for this fundraising campaign.
This GoFundMe campaign has been started to help with this trip. Any support you can give is greatly appreciated.
Funds will go towards
Visa/ volunteer permit/ insurance
Transportation
Housing
Meals
Supplies
Any extra funds at the end of the trip will be donated directly to refugee aid at the camp.
This is an excellent opportunity to help those in less fortunate situations than ourselves, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to give back.
Every dollar helps. Thank you for being so supportive!
Love,
Cassie Jacobs
If you cannot donate, please share this post so that as many people recognize the need for aid as possible.
On a Personal Note:
While I recognize there is nothing that will prepare me for the realities I may witness abroad, I’m confident it will give me a deeper understanding of the world, my fellow man, and myself. In a way, this journey will bring my very existence full circle. In 1908, my Grandfather arrived in New York as a refugee immigrant. He was forced to flee his home and family in Albania to escape the violence and threat of death. He was 14 years old, possessed nothing, didn’t speak the language, and was utterly alone. As remarkable as his survival story is, I am most proud of what happened years later. Despite being an innocent victim who had his life destroyed, he wasn’t consumed by bitterness and hate. He went on to live a life full of hard work, kindness, and endless acts of compassion for those in need. I never met my Grandfather; for me, his existence has been shaped by listening to family stories with my imagination filling in the gaps. I increasingly think of his heartbreaking journey as I prepare to go abroad. I already feel closer to him. The more I comprehend the current crisis, the more my admiration grows to realize what he overcame at such a young age. But more than anything, I hope he received some kindness and help during the darkest moments of his life. Unfortunately, all the questions I want to ask will never be answered. All I can do is ensure that when I help these people, they will know kindness, however fleeting it may be. I will help them as much as I can, and your charitable support will make a difference.
Thank you for your consideration and willingness to take action.
