Fund Clay Mommy: A Trans Golem Mommy-Daughter Play
Donation protected
Hi everybody!!!
I am looking for your support putting on my first full length play, Clay Mommy.
The play tells the story of a young Jewish trans girl quits sex work and moves home to live with her estranged mother, coerces a newly transitioned family friend into becoming her daughter, and uses Kabbalah to force her grandmother back from the dead to guide her. The play has an all trans-femme cast with some men appearing as puppets.
Clay Mommy is a project that is verydear to my heart. As a trans woman who grew up in Berkeley’s tight-knit Jewish community, I want to make a play about the experience of reconciling two worlds that are deeply important to me. I want to make a play that will honor the trans women who mothered me and let me mother them in New York City, and the hardship of building a chosen family amid a world that is so driven towards our destruction.
Most of all, this play is dedicated to everyone in the Berkeley Jewish community who showed me what love, community, and family meant from such an early age through my transition and journey into adulthood.
To make this play, I need your help. I need funds to compensate actors, secure props and sets, and make puppets. Anything you can give would be amazing– and if you’re unable to donate, even sharing this fundraiser on your social media would be super helpful!
