Fund Don’s Psychedelics Therapy Training!

Hi, my name is Don Koehler. I'm a leadership coach and licensed psychologist working with clients struggling with trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and addiction. I'm trained in trauma-specific, somatic, and mindfulness-based therapies that, especially when combined with medications like Lexapro and Prozac, are effective with many people. But the medications have terrible side effects. I am continually looking for treatments that work without causing harm to the body.

 

I see my next step as becoming a psychedelics therapist and coach. Interest in nonpharmacological holistic medicine for chronic conditions and for spiritual development is exploding. There are no adverse side effects with these substances when taken as prescribed and they also assist in developing awareness and consciousness. I'm excited by their promise and ability to reduce suffering and accelerate well-being. These findings are supported by recent research by Johns Hopkins Medicine and several other research facilities and organizations.

 

I've been accepted into the Integrative Psychiatry Institute’s 10-month program that teaches the use of psilocybin, MDMA (Methylenedioxymethamphetamine), and ketamine and how to best implement them for clinical disorders. Through weekly Zoom sessions and a 1-week residency in Boulder, Colorado, I will be taught by experts I’ve followed for years like Gabor Mate, MD, a renowned doctor and speaker on addiction, trauma, and childhood development, and Michael Pollan, environmentalist and New York Times bestselling author. Once completing the training, I'll know how to implement treatment appropriately and how to assist clients in integrating the experience into their being for maximum benefit.

Bringing this new approach into my practice gives me great hope, especially given escalating numbers of people needing treatment. I envision offering integrative sessions at suitable retreat centers along with preliminary and follow-up sessions either online or in person.
