Hi. My name is Dr. William Lawrence, and I am a professor at a major university in the Washington DC area who had the privilege of working with Jesse Morton for several years on a number of common initiatives.
At his second memorial gathering, I volunteered to set up this GoFundMe page on behalf of his three minor children.
Jesse had two boys, aged 12 and 11, and a 15-month-old daughter.
Jesse had two boys, aged 12 and 11, and a 15-month-old daughter.
He was supporting all three children.
Several participants at the memorial service are working together to raise $86,400 to help take care of the children for at least three years at a level consistent with Jesse's wishes.
The funds will be used for the immediate needs of his children, including any needed therapy related to the loss, and some future contributions may seed college funds after the children’s basic needs are met.
Funds will begin to be disbursed upon receipt of donations, as available, on at least a monthly basis, in close coordination with the children's mothers.
We appreciate contributions at any time in any amount.
We are considering future fundraisers and funding opportunities.
Jesse left us with three amazing children. I have enjoyed immensely getting to know them through their mothers since this effort began. I hope we can all do our best to support them. It would mean a lot to his children; to their parents and families; to his colleagues, supporters, and admirers; and of course to me as but one of you.
Two more of Jesse's professional colleagues, Karen Volker and Robert Benton, have agreed to work closely with me in their personal capacity to ensure that every dollar is disbursed transparently, fairly, and promptly to his children.
Please donate as much as you can to help us meet the short and long term needs of the children and reach our goal.
