Fund for UW-Madison Survivor

On Sunday, September 3, 2023, a member of our community was violently attacked in downtown Madison. Since then, this student has been fighting for their life at a local medical facility.

Unfortunately, due to the extent of the injuries, the survivor could be looking at a long-term recovery process. While crime victim compensation and insurance will eventually pick up some of these costs, we know that there will be needs that do not fit in to these funding sources. There is also work interruption for the survivor and the family supporting them. Day to day bills unfortunately go unpaid during these times, so having a fund to pay these costs would be a great relief to them and the family.

We are a community that cares for each other. In the spirit of that caring, we are asking to help this student defray the costs as an aftereffect of this violent assault.

RCC Sexual Violence Resource Center (RCC formerly Rape Crisis Center)is working with the persons impacted to ensure that the survivor and their family receive any funds given. We encourage you to give. If you cannot use this platform, these two agencies have agreed to take in funds for the survivor. Please delineate funds given directly to RCC to "UW-Madison Survivor".
