Fund frontline support for blood cancer patients
Please help Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) raise £20,000 to fund a frontline support worker, helping patients and families in Devon affected by blood cancer.
Diagnosis and treatment for blood cancer and related conditions are life-changing. Having an Exeter Leukaemia Fund Patient Support Coordinator on hand at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital's Haematology Centre will allow frontline support for patients and their families from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond.
The Patient Support Coordinator will provide a link between patients and the services available to support their journey. They will work closely with the NHS medical team to establish support areas outside of the specialist medical treatment provided at the hospital. This includes physical and mental well-being services, financial and legal support.
The Patient Support Coordinator will be there to pick up the pieces for families after lives have been turned upside down by blood cancer. This person will be a friendly face to talk to, a shoulder to cry on, and a helping hand to help with life’s struggles that can be too much to deal with alongside a draining treatment schedule. The Coordinator will not only be there for the patient, but also for their family members, who will face their own challenges and emotions whilst caring for their loved ones.
Please donate or organise a fundraiser today to help reach a £20,000 target so that ELF can be there on the frontline for blood cancer patients and their families.
