Fund Gabriela Lopez's Visionary Film Sovereign

Hi! I'm Gabriela Lopez, a burgeoning director with a passion for surrealism and a vision for the bizarre.

My professional directing career began in 2015 with my short film “Unrelated” which won five awards in addition to being nominated at Sidewalk Film Festival for Best Narrative Short. My 2023 film “Weather Girl” was nominated for Best Short at Sidewalk Film Festival and Burbank International Film Festival as well.

My love for surrealism started with describing my feelings in metaphors then falling in love with artists like Magritte and Jodorowsky. The films I write turn metaphors and imagined feelings into eccentric characters.

Sovereign follows a woman trapped in a room who loses her arm and must play a twisted game to find it.

Your contribution to "Sovereign" goes beyond mere support; it's an investment in the surrealistic exploration of modern society. By backing this project, you’re helping me continue to build my career as a director while also championing original storytelling in cinema.

To help continue the life of "Sovereign" in all its surreal glory, we would love to raise around $25,000. This funding will help cover production costs including cinematography, lighting, make up artists, film insurance (10,000), location costs (2500), sound mixing/sound designing and music composition (3500), editing/post production (4000), and any other unexpected costs associated with the filmmaking process i.e. the 2 unexpected days we had to add on to the original 2 days we had in the schedule (13000), marketing deliverables and film festival submissions (5000). Clearly this is over the $25,000 but so you get the idea.
