Build Garden Beds for Lewis Elementry

Donation protected
This project will revitalize the garden area of Lewis Elementary School. There are currently two dilapidated garden beds that were constructed over a decade ago, which have fallen into major disrepair. While still used by students, the wood inside of the beds have decayed and are on the verge of failing, with the bed walls ballooning out and barely holding back the soil. We will remove the two existing beds and replace them with three newly built ones, making some key adjustments in order to improve on the ones that we are replacing. First, we will change the design of the beds in order to ensure that degradable wood is kept away from heavy soil contact, improving the longevity of the garden beds. Second, we will use alternative materials in the newer beds, which will improve the quality of the soil and further decrease the maintenance required for the beds. Finally, we will lower the height of the new beds to match the average height of the elementary schoolers, as the current beds were originally too tall and are only easily accessible from the broken sides. These things will allow us to make a permanent improvement in the garden area that will stand for years to come. All funds raised will go to Lewis Elementary, funding materials for the project with excess going to the school. Thank you in advance for any donations of all sizes!
