Fund Jen's New Van

Hello friends and family.

I am Katie Myers. Quick back story for why I’m doing this. I started working for TPS in 2016. After a few months of being employed I was placed as a 1:1 for Cara. When I started in March of 2017 with her we quickly formed a bond, which grew amongst her family as well. We were the best of friends!! Growing in life with her, I was able to see the behind the scenes. Just a glimpse of what her family endures daily with her disability. Cara has Dravet syndrome, which is known to be a genetic disorder that causes a severe form of epilepsy. It's characterized by prolonged seizures that are often triggered by fever or hot temperatures, and can be difficult to treat with anticonvulsant medications. With this syndrome life for her family is always on hold. All the what ifs, cancelled plans, hospital stays, and job interruptions. Jen does her ABSOLUTE best to make sure she provides for her family. Having to work a job where she can leave at any moment, and have to reschedule often is hard to come by. We all know missed work days is a missed money on a paycheck. She currently cleans homes, and is damn good at it, but her van just isn’t keeping up with her like it should. So here’s why I’m doing this. A reliable means for transportation is HUGE. She is in need of something new!! Those longs drives to Columbus, Chicago for doc appointments and all around the city have run her current van down. If you know Jen this is not something she’d do. She asks for nothing, yet would give her last to help the next person. She is the definition of a God sent woman. I have a goal yes, but anything helps. She’ll be more than thankful. I appreciate everyone who takes the time
